  • Requirements for translated documents

If you submit a document that is not in English, you must provide a full English translation completed by an independent professional translator or translation company. The translation must include the translator's name, contact details, and a statement confirming it is a true and accurate translation of the original document. We may verify the translator's credentials through recognised professional bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) or the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), or by confirming their employment with a professional translation company. We cannot accept translations completed by the applicant, a family member, a friend, or produced using automated translation tools or services (such as Google Translate).  If the translation does not meet these requirements, we may ask for additional information or a revised translation, which could delay your application. To help avoid this, we recommend ensuring your translator provides all required certification details before you submit your documents.
