Skipton International strengthens its expat buy-to-let proposition

15th October 2018

Skipton International is offering its customers yet more cost savings, becoming the first bank to include the conveyancing fees of both the lender and the buyer in its expat buy-to-let mortgage application price. British expatriates looking to purchase investment property in the UK can benefit from this newly introduced proposition with effect from today.

The fee of £1,999 will now cover the application, a standard buy to let valuation, Skipton’s legal costs and the legal costs of a standard conveyance using Skipton’s lawyers. This makes Skipton’s expat mortgage offering one of the most competitively priced on the current market.  Please note that this offer excludes all disbursements, search and registration fees which remain payable by the customer.

By using one law firm acting for both borrower and lender there is one less link in the chain, with Skipton’s lawyers able to fulfil the requirements of any sale quickly and efficiently with a minimum of fuss.

Skipton’s latest offering will provide major benefits to its customers. By simplifying the procedure, conveyancing should become quicker and more convenient, all of which will greatly ease the property purchasing process. Customers will also be able to contact the conveyancer directly.

Roger Hughes, Business Development Manager, Skipton International said: “We are thrilled to be able to offer this to our expat customers and pass on yet more savings. Now that our customers are able to get more for their money, this puts Skipton firmly ahead of the market on fees. Coupled with our award-winning customer service we would like to think we are now becoming the lenders of choice for all British expatriates.”

Applicants are still able to use their own solicitor should they wish, but will be responsible for all costs incurred.

Skipton International launched its range of mortgages for British expatriates in 2014 after servicing the banking needs of expatriates for many years. Earlier this year, they extended their proposition to accept applications for buy-to-let lending on Scottish mainland property.
