The Skipton Swimarathon is to launch a new category of award celebrating the outstanding levels of sponsorship Island companies help raise.

Divided into three categories, the Skipton Swimarathon Corporate Sponsor Awards recognise the amount of funds raised by individual organisations each year.

A Bronze Award Level is achieved for raising over £500 in sponsorship, the Silver Award Level for raising over £1,000 and the Gold Award Level for over £1,500.

Nick Guillemette, Chairman of the Skipton Swimarathon, said: “Corporate Sponsorship has always been a part of the Skipton Swimarathon and over the years our supporters have been incredibly generous. We created the awards to show our appreciation and give recognition to these corporate companies for their efforts and charitable contributions.”

This year the Guille-Allès Children’s Library Project is the chosen beneficiary of the Skipton Swimarathon.  The Children’s Library and Trustees are committed to raising the funding required to transform the current rooms into an imaginative space for children to read and learn.  The Skipton Swimarathon signed on as the first major sponsor of the project.

Aaron Walden, Skipton International's Commercial Manager, said: “We have already been amazed by how many corporate teams have signed up for the Skipton Swimarathon to raise money for the Guille-Allés Children’s Library Project. Considering how much money these teams raise we felt it was about time we created an award in honour of their support.”

The Skipton Swimarathon is organised jointly by the Lions Club of Guernsey and Guernsey Round Table, and is sponsored by Skipton International. Last year 1,778 swimmers took part in the event raising in excess of £50,000.

The Bailiwick’s largest fundraising event runs from Wednesday 4 October to Sunday 8 October. Teams can register online at https://www.swimarathon.org/register
