Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the Executive team of Skipton International Limited (SIL). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, with a functional reporting line to the Group Chief Finance Officer, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation’s financial strategy.

As a key strategic partner to the Board and Executive Committee, the CFO will play a critical role in driving sustainable growth, financial resilience and long-term value creation. You will lead the Finance function with strong commercial focus, ensuring that financial performance, governance and regulatory compliance are maintained to the highest standard.

This role is based in the Channel Islands (Guernsey/Jersey) and includes Board-level engagement, regulatory accountability as a GFSC Approved Person, and participation in key governance forums including Chair of the Asset & Liabilities Committee.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO, Board, Group CFO and Executive Committee, shaping financial strategy to support long-term organisational objectives.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Finance function that drives commercial outcomes, supports business growth, and enhances profitability.
  • Set and oversee the balance sheet strategy, ensuring capital, liquidity, and structural positioning align with organisational goals and evolving risks.
  • Deliver robust financial planning, forecasting and performance management, ensuring clear targets, effective resource allocation and transparent reporting.
  • Provide insightful analysis and challenge on financial performance, identifying drivers, risks and opportunities, and ensuring appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain strong financial stewardship, ensuring accurate, timely and reliable financial reporting, accounting and control frameworks.
  • Champion the adoption of financial systems, data analytics and digital solutions to enhance forecasting, reporting and decision-making capability.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory, prudential and conduct requirements, acting as a key point of contact with regulators and providing assurance to the Board.
  • Oversee first-line risk management within Finance and Treasury, operating in line with the Group’s risk framework and promoting a strong risk culture.
  • Manage financial resources effectively, including investment appraisal, pricing support and risk management to underpin commercial decision-making.
  • Contribute as a Director of SIL and actively participate in Board and Committee governance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating at CFO or senior finance leadership level within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive business performance.
  • Deep understanding of financial management, capital and liquidity planning, balance sheet strategy and risk management.
  • Demonstrable experience of regulatory engagement and accountability, ideally within a prudentially regulated environment.
  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience leading high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience of driving digital transformation within finance, including systems, reporting and analytics enhancements.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the confidence to operate effectively at Board level.
  • Eligibility to meet GFSC Approved Person requirements and operate as a Material Risk Taker.
